Some Thoughts on the Future of Organized Labor


UCSB Professor Nelson Lichtenstein, who specializes in 20th century U.S. Labor History, argues that the U.S. may see a “trade union revival” in the next 10 years. This revival, he believes, will require either extensive worker strikes or an increase in workers’ institutionalized strength. The latter would occur with help from the Democratic hegemony he views as unstoppable.
