Health Profession Association

The Health Profession Association is here at UCSB to ensure that those seeking a career in the health professions will have all the resources to reach their goals. We have regular meetings throughout the quarter, inviting a wide range of speakers ranging from medical school admission officers, to practicing health professionals, to internship opportunities. Coming in January we have our Health Conference event at which speakers in almost every medical field will come and share about what exactly they do. Membership is open to everyone. Please seek us out and use all of our resources available to you.

Pre-Pharmacy

The Pre-Pharmacy Student Association’s purpose is to expose the UCSB community to the professional field of Pharmacy and assist those interested in pursuing Pharmacy schools.

Pre-Dental

The vision of the Pre-Dental Organization is a simple one: To teach and to be taught. Our organization strives to teach proper oral healthcare to underprivileged children and adults throughout OUR community, the community of Santa Barbara. Our hopes are that through teaching proper oral healthcare we can prevent future dental complications and successfully save a smile. Along with volunteering our time and knowledge to those less fortunate, our organization also concentrates on broadening our overall knowledge of the dental field. With our future aspirations aimed at becoming Dentists ourselves, we attempt to learn the pathway to becoming a dentist, the trials and tribulations it contains, and the possibilities the profession has to offer. We accomplish this by getting in close contact with local dentists, attending dental conferences, holding meetings with a wide array of specialists, and attending any other venue that has to do with dentistry.

Global Medical Brigades - UCSB Chapter

Global Medical Brigades is a secular, international student-run volunteer organization whose mission is to provide sustained health care to undeserved communities around the world. Our UCSB team recruits student volunteers, medical professionals, and gathers medical supplies, then travels abroad to perform the medical brigades. The group functions like a mobile medical unit, setting up small clinics to diagnose and treat patients at no cost. Our current emphasis is to help the impoverished villages of Honduras in collaboration with one of their country's most highly regarded non profits, Sociedad Amigos de los Ninos, led by Sister Maria Rosa Leggol, a recent nominee of the Nobel Peace Prize. We will hold at least one trip per year assuming necessary prerequisites are met. We will recruit dedicated students, nurses, residents, pharmacists, dentists and doctors to volunteer on each trip. This is an amazing opportunity to get hands-on experience in the international health care industry.

Los Curanderos

Los Curanderos seeks to provide support and information for students interested in the health professions. The information provided is based on opportunities offered to minorities, and those interested in providing health care to underserved communities. The group is open to students who were looking to enter the health field and become pharmacists, dentists, nurses, etc. Also the group was begun as a support system for the Hispanic community at UCSB, it is open to any ethnicity. The group plans many events together, including group volunteering, blood drives, attending medical conferences, and fundraising for our annual pre-health conference.
