Career Services

UCSB’s Career Services web site is a great tool to use to find more information about possible careers, internships, and graduate schools.

  • Careers by Major – Resources for Biology Majors
    • Possible career choices open to Biology majors. For example, there are links to sites describing forensics, genetics, and aquatic biology career options.
    • Extensive listing of possible internships for both EEMB and MCDB majors.

  • Graduate School Options
    • Provides information on types of graduate schools, how to apply, test preparation, and when to apply; for those students thinking about graduate school in the sciences rather than the health professions.

  • Vault Online Career Library
    • How to get access to Vault:
      • Logon to GauchoLink at http://career.ucsb.edu/index.html (under the "Services for Students" menu).
      • click on the link to “Vault Online Career Library” (under "Announcements").

    • Vault is a huge library of Career Topic Guides, Industry Career Guides, and Employer Guides. Some examples include: Guide to the Top Pharmaceuticals and Biotech Employers, Guide to Health Care Management, Guide to Nursing, and Guide to Physical Therapy.

    • Vault also has an Internship Database
      • Click on “search by: Industry”
      • Choose Health Care, other options such as state.
      • Search brings up internships such as the American Heart Association, USCF AIDS health project, and Pfizer.

Effective May 30, 2006, The College of Letters and Science Health Professions Letter Service was transferred to UCSB's Career Services. Requests to create a file and requests to send letters must now be made to that office, (805) 893-4416. Details may be found here.
