Acting Dean of Undergraduate Education

Dr. Mary Nisbet is Acting Dean of Undergraduate Education in the College of Letters and Science.

After majoring in mathematics at St. Andrews University in Scotland, she became a chartered accountant in the United Kingdom, and then worked in the accounting profession for several years. She completed her doctorate in Finance at the University of Glasgow and was a professor in the Glasgow University Business School until coming to the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1991. During her time in Glasgow, Dr. Nisbet also worked for two years as a faculty member in the University of the South Pacific, Fiji. At UC Santa Barbara, Dr. Nisbet is a faculty member in the Economics Department and was Director of the Accounting Program for eight years until being appointed in 2002 as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education.
